About Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences - [SSUHS]
Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS) is a premier health institute located in Guwahati, Assam. It is the only health university in the North Eastern Region of India, established in 2009 under “The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Science Act, 2007.” SSUHS offers around 90 courses through its 47 affiliated colleges. The university was approved by the University Grant Commission (UGC).
SSUHS offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, and super speciality courses in medical sciences, along with courses in nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and Ayurved and paramedical streams. The courses offered at the undergraduate level include MBBS, BSc Nursing, BPharm, BSc Medical Technology, BAMS and BHMS. Admission to MBBS is based on marks obtained in NEET UG. SSUHS offers admission to Pharm.D and DPharma streams. For admission to BAMS, BHMS, BSc Nursing, BPharm, Pharm.D, and DPharm, an individual needs to clear the CEE (Common Entrance Examination) conducted by the university. SSUHS offers MD/MS, MSc Nursing, MPT and MPharma at the postgraduate level. Admission to MD and MS is based on NEET PG, followed by counselling. SSUHS Admission 2024
SSUHS provides admission to undergraduate, postgraduate, superspeciality, and diploma courses based on the entrance exams only. SSUHS admission for the MBBS course is based on NEET UG scores, while admission to BSc Nursing, BPharm, BSc Medical Technology, BMLT, BOPTM, BAMS, and BHMS is based on the CEE conducted by the university. SSUHS MD/MS and DM/MCh Admission is based on a national level entrance examination such as NEET PG and NEET SS, respectively. Admission to GNM is based on the score obtained in GNMEE.

Students who desire to seek admission to the SSUHS must fulfil the eligibility criteria as per the required courses. It is advisable to read all the terms and conditions carefully regarding any particular mentioned in the Brochure and University Website before applying for the same. Fill out the application form with the necessary details and submit the form with application Fees through NEFT or the Details given thereon. Candidates must pay the Application Fees (INR 1,200 {non-refundable}) through the online mode of Payment available thereon. (Except permitted in certain cases.) Appear for the CEE/ NEET conducted by SSUHS itself for admission in respective courses. If the candidate clears CEE examination on, then complete the remaining formality, i.e. submit the necessary documents with self-ata tested copies and others. Finally, Submit the Admission Fees, including the Tuition Fees, Campus Fees and Hostel Fees, if any, applicable.

SSUHS provides placement and internship opportunities to students pursuing a course at the university. The university helps provide internship opportunities with a stipend of INR 30,000 – INR 40,000. The average salary offered to undergraduate students stood between INR 3,00,000 to 4,20,000 per annum. The average salary offered for postgraduate students stood between INR 3,60,000 to INR 6,00,000 per annum. SSUHS Scholarship
Registered as a public/ government university, SSUHS has provided scholarships to students who scored good marks in university examinations. A meritorious student will receive the scholarship for the course for which they are applying. Scholarships are awarded to minority students in accordance with their performance on prior qualifying exams. The State Government also assists students who are financially unable to pay the fees through various schemes. Generally, this assistance is based on the student(s) 's performance in the last examination.
SSUHS Facilities
SSUHS has various facilities available to help the needs of the students as well as faculty members and other staff. Some of SSUHS Facilities are as follows:
- Library: SSUHS has a central library with more than 1,20,000 printed books. In addition to that, the library also has a subscription to 500 national and international journals for students. The library also provides e-resources like IEEE and J Gate.
- Canteen: In the wide campus area, SSUHS also has a canteen facility for morning breakfast, lunch, brunch, and often dine-out. The food here is prepared with utmost care and provided at a concessional rate to the students who hold a Pass. It also has a cafeteria where students can relax and refresh and make funny moments of college life.
- Hostel: The campus comprises Several well-built hostel blocks for both girls and boys. Each hostel has a separate mess, admin office, and warden quarter. In addition to well-furnished rooms, the hostel is complete with facilities, viz. a high-speed Wi-Fi connection, a medical store, first aid kits, and other amenities.
- Labs: There are a total of around 7 to 8 Labs available for various departments, each facilitated with relevant equipment and as per need & requirement of the students.
- Gymnasium: SSUHS has also provided a gymnasium facility for students' use. The Gymnasium has all the facilities and equipment, including Weight Training Dumbbells, an Adjustable Bench, a Barbell Stand, a Cable Crossover, an Exercise Ball, a Flat Bench Press, a Decline Bench Press, an Indoor Rower etc. within the campus.
