Velammal Engineering College (VEC) is a private institution established in 1995 by Velammal Educational Trust. It is affiliated to Anna University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and also an ISO certified institution. It was the first private engineering College to obtain an ISO certificate from the National Board of Accreditation. It has a beautiful campus along with State-of-the-art facilities like hostels, library, laboratories, large lecture halls, sports place, and health care room. Additionally, the college has been accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade and 4^th rank among Engineering Colleges.

While it is necessary to impart quality education, it must provide the necessary facilities to its students and staff as well. Velammal Engineering College is known to have a strong academic background due to its research and development activities. It facilitates the students with various cultural and sports events as well. Industrial tours and visits throughout the academic session are conducted to provide global exposure to the students. 1. Library: VEC has a very well-furnished, ventilated & spacious library with an area of around 24,000 sq. ft. It contains 76118 volumes of books, 178 national and international journals, and 9517 online journals. It follows the Open System Access with well-equipped number of Educational video/ CD’s and Audio Cassettes as well. The library comprises of Stack hall with reading room, book bank sections, technical section, reprography sections to cater to every need of the students. 
2. Hostel: VEC has enabled separate accommodations for girls and boys. The hostel can house 300 girls & 600 boys. One room can accommodate 2 students Single room facility is given to the PG & final years Students. Mess facility is also provided with a dining hall and hygienic food is served.
3. Student Counselling Service: The college has a student counseling department where a staff member counsels every student once a week. It looks after the students’ performance and how it can be improved. Whenever necessary, parents are also invited to discuss their wards’ report.
