It was established in 1980, under the management of Vokkaligara Sangha, a prominent trust committed to imparting quality education. VIPS is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), (Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India) and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka.
