About YMCA College of Physical Education

Established in the year 1920, YMCA College of Physical Education is a government aided college recognised by National Council for Teacher Education situated in Chennai . The college is NAAC Accredited ‘A’ and affiliated to Tamil Nadu Physical Education And Sports University. The college became coed in 1940.The college has a 64 acre huge and peaceful campus.

Mainly 6 courses across 3 streams namely Vocational, Management, Physical Education are offered by the college. The degrees offered are M.Phil, BPEd, BMS, MSc, Phd, MPEd.

The College provides various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities which give a head-start to students, developing their personality and inculcating skills of decision-making and leadership. The college has a great infrastructure with all facilities like a full fledged central library, great sports facilities , cafeteria and auditorium.

The college has excellent teaching faculty with a count of around 20. The college has both a Men’s and Women's hostel. The college fulfils all the criteria to make students expert at Physical Education .

Courses	Details
B.P.Ed.	Duration: 2 years Eligibility: Should have passed BPES or BPE, BA or B.Sc or B.Com., or any other equivalent degree recognised by the TNPESU
M.P.Ed.	Duration: 2 years Eligibility: Should have passed B.P.Ed. degree, obtained after a bachelor's degree or its equivalent degree recognised by the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University (TNPESU) and should have required standard in at least one major game or sport.
B.P.E.S	Duration: 3 year Eligibility: Should have passed 12th exam of the Government of Tamilnadu or any other equivalent examination, recognized by the Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University and Tamilnadu Government. Also the candidate must have 21 years of age.
B.M.S	Duration: 1 year Eligibility: Must have Bachelor's degree or any other degree recognised by the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University.
D.P.Ed.	Duration: 2 year Eligibility: The candidate must have secured minimum 50 percent in 12th examination of the Government of Tamil Nadu or other equivalent examination, recognised by the Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University and Tamilnadu Government. NOTE : Candidates should not have completed 30 years of age (for General Category). SC / ST candidates should not have completed 35 years of age Widows/ Orphans should not have completed 40 years of age
Ph. D.	Duration: Full Time and Part Time Eligibility: Master's Degree in Physical Education (as per the norms of Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University)

Apart from this, the college offers Evening courses i.e. M.Sc. - Fitness, Exercise Rehabilitation and Nutritional Care (FERN), PG Diploma in sports coaching Tennis/ Cricket/ Swimming/ Basketball/ Handball/ Football/ Track & Field, PG Diploma in Yoga, Guidance & Counselling, and Event Management.

Admission is subject to eligibility rules of the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Tamil Nadu Government and NCTE.

How to Apply?

The admission procedure to the college is online .

Candidates have to visit here and select ‘apply now’:
Candidates have to fill personal details like name , father’s /guardian’s name, Date of birth, Email, Mobile number, Caste, religion, nationality, etc.
Candidate has to provide the name of the institution he/she studied in.
Candidate has to select the Qualifying pass.
Candidate has to then fill his/her percentage and marks secured in the HSC, SSC, and Qualifying examination.
Then they have to fill in where he/she has represented himself/herself in sports.
The candidate has to then upload a passport size photo, signature and parent’s/guardian’s signature.
The candidate has to choose the payment mode and click on the register.
Then the candidate once registered has to pay 350 INR application fee.
A merit list is displayed by the college for the candidates eligible for admission along with a physical test.
If the candidate is interested he/she has to pay a fee and produce original documents for verification.
