Admissions at D Y Patil polytechnic institute is done merit-based depending upon the government quota seats (CAP) and institute level seats. CAP allotted seats get allocated with certain ranking being secured by the applied students belonging to the Maharashtra state.

The schedule for CAP is declared by the Directorate of technical education (DTE) and the detailed admission process is announced by the institute.

Computer centre- The computer labs at the institute has the advanced computer systems maintained with latest software, great LAN networks, and Cyberoam firewall. All the labs have power back-up facilities to avoid interruptions during unexpected power cutoff.
