About Sunderwati Mahila College
Sunderwati Mahila College is situated in Bhagalpur in Bihar state. It is one of the top colleges and holds a prominent position in the field of higher education for women in Bihar. The college was established in 1949, was accredited by NAAC team and was graded as “B+” in 2004 .
A total of 23 disciplines are taught to over 7000 students in fields of Arts, science, commerce and various U.G.C. sponsored vocational courses like computer applications, Office Management & Secretarial Practice, Functional Hindi and Simple Spoken Sanskrit.
Recently under Bihar Entrepreneurship Development Programme N.T.T., Food Preservation and Food Processing, Health and Hygiene, Beautician Course, Arts and Craft Courses have also been introduced.
The basic eligibility criteria for admission into bachelor’s degree in SMC is a minimum of 45% in 10+2 level examination from any recognized board.
The college also has NCC/NSS programme camps installed. The cadets of NCC/NSS have been representing the college in the Republic Day parade and winning medals from Hon’ble President and Prime Minister of India.
The college has eight hostels, which provide accommodation to more than a thousand students, with a separated hostel for PG students.

SM College Admission
Admission into intermediate courses of arts, commerce and science is based on the merit obtained in 10th class from any recognized board.
Admission into bachelor’s courses in science, commerce and arts is based on the criteria of scoring a minimum of 45% aggregate in 10+2 level examination from any recognized board.
Admission into bachelor’s courses in computer applications, business administration and commerce (hons) is based on an entrance exam conducted by the college followed by an interview round.
Admission into Master’s degree is based on the criteria of scoring a minimum of 50% marks in Bachelor’s.
NOTE: For the reserved category candidates, relaxation in marks is provided as per the rules of Government of Bihar.

Many students regularly receive scholarships (merit cum poverty).
- Many backward class students received Minority scholarships from the Bihar State government as well as from the UGC In 2015 -16.
- Mahindra Finance Ltd selected 37 Meritorious students of the college whose parents annual income was below 2 Lakhs. They also granted Rs. 10,000 (Ten thousand) each for their academic support.

- Library: It has a rich collection of about 70,000 books, journal and periodicals
- Language lab: The language lab facilitates classroom engagement and interaction via computer-based exercises and activities to maximize language immersion
- Smart class:It is a classroom that has an instructor equipped with computer and audio-visual equipment, allowing the instructor to teach using a wide variety of media.
- Sport facilities: Badminton court, cricket ground, football ground, tennis court, volleyball, athletic, kho-kho, kabaddi
- Hostels: 8 hostels, a separate hostel for PG students. The hostel has spacious rooms, periodic maintenance of rooms, hygienic food. Warden, hostel superintendent and proper security ensure safe and pleasant stay for the students to focus on their studies.
