Binod Bihar Mahto Koylanchal University - [BBMKU]

Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University (BBMKU) is a government university located in Dhanbad. Established in 2017, the UGC has awarded the university a formal recognition for its academic achievement and placed it 545th among all universities in India. BBMKU has an enrollment of over 100000 students in its affiliated and constituent colleges. 

BBMKU offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral courses across various streams through the faculties of Humanities, Science, Social Sciences, Commerce, Management, Engineering, Law, Education, and others. BBMKU admissions are based on merit or scores obtained in the entrance examination. BBMKU has established collaborations with universities and industries both in India and abroad. The university has also signed an MOU with the Cyber Vidyapeeth Foundation to start diploma and PG Diploma courses in Cyber Defence.

The university is also working on plans to introduce courses in Jyotish, Karmakand, and Vastu Shastra besides Law, and MBA soon. Additionally, BBMKU will provide coaching for civil services and NET exams through its career development center of the university. 

The campus of BBMKU is spread over 500 acres of land that houses several schools and centers. The university has 10 Constituent colleges, 19 Affiliated colleges, 23 B.Ed. colleges, 02 M.Ed. colleges, 02 Law colleges, and 01 Medical College spread in Dhanbad and Bokaro districts of Jharkhand, with its headquarters at Dhanbad.

BBMKU Admission Process

BBMKU admission process for all courses usually starts in March or April every year. The university offers admission to most of the UG and PG programs based on merit (marks secured in the qualifying examination). BBMKU also conducts admission to some of the specializations of BA (Hons), B.Sc (Hons), B.Com, and BBA courses based on scores obtained in the Common University entrance test (CUET UG). BTech admissions at BBMKU are done through JEE Main examination followed by counselling conducted by the university. BBMKU admission process is completely online. BBMKU conducts on-campus and off-campus placement drives for final-year students. Top MNCs and PSUs from various sectors visit the campus every year to recruit students. BBMKU Scholarships

BBMKU provides various scholarships to meritorious and financially weak students. Some of the BBMKU scholarships are as follows:

• Pragati Scholarship: This is a national-level scholarship provided by AICTE. This scholarship is only for female candidates. Scholarships are available for SC, ST, and BC students studying.
• Post Matric Scholarship for Students With Disabilities Fellowship: This scholarship is for students with benchmark disability and having a valid certificate of disability. Parents/guardians' income from all sources must not exceed INR 2.5 LPA per annum. Scholarship Amounts up to INR 4000 to eligible students with different disabilities.
• The Government of Jharkhand provides an online scholarship portal named as E – Kalyan run by SC,ST,BC welfare departments. Scholarships are available for SC,ST,BC students studying at the post-matriculation level.

Scholarship Eligibility:

• Student must be a permanent resident of Jharkhand state and belong to SC, ST, BC
• They must be studying at an institution recognized by the government of Jharkhand
• Annual income of family – not exceed 2.5 lPA (sc/st candidates ), not exceed 1.5 LPA ( BC candidate)

BBMKU Campus Life & Facilities

BBMKU is a non-residential institution and the campus is located in Dhanbad, the coal capital of India. The campus of BBMKU is spread over 500 acres of land that houses various departments and schools. The university organizes several activities like alumni meet, musical nights, magazine quizzes, and Independence Day celebrations where all the students and all the associates of the university gather at the main campus to show unity and enjoy these activities. BBMKU facilities are as follows:

• Library: BBMKU provides a rich collection of books of varied genres and subjects. 
• Laboratory: Well-equipped laboratory for U.G./P.G. (Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Physics, Geography, Home Science, Psychology, Computer, and Biotech).
• PlayGround: PlayGround at BBMKU is equipped with basketball courts, a Volleyball courts, a football stadium, and other indoor sports facilities for students. 
• Hostel Accommodation: Hostel facility is available for both girls and boys students. It is on a first come first serve basis and for valid reasons. The fees for the BBMKU hostel are charged at the start of every year. 
• Other facilities include Experienced & qualified faculty members, Lecture Theatre/ Seminar Hall, Auditorium and Conference Hall, Enriched library and reading room, Career Counseling & Placement Cell.
