About DBS PG College

Dayanand Brijendra Swarup (Post-Graduation) college popularly known as D.B.S (P.G.) College was established in July 1961 in Dehradun. The college offers UG courses in 13 subjects and PG courses in 11 subjects under the faculty of Science and Arts. DBS is popular for its specialization in Science courses. The college also provides Self-finance as well as Add On/ Vocational Courses. Eligibility for UG courses is 10 + 2 passed whereas for PG courses is bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Admission is strictly based on the merit obtained in an intermediate or an equivalent examination. Seats are reserved for SC, ST, OBC, and PWD. For regular courses, 90% of seats in the college are reserved for candidates of Uttarakhand and 10% for other states.

Eligibility for UG courses is 10 + 2 passed from a recognized board. The same for PG courses is a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in a relevant field.
Admission in Undergraduate and postgraduate courses at DBS (PG) College is strictly based on the merit obtained by a student in the previous qualifying examination.

How to Apply?

Since the admission process is online, the students are instructed to visit the official website of the college.
Fill out the application form available with all the correct details.
Attach the required documents and also keep them ready for the time of counseling.
The merit list for each course will be declared on the college website.
Candidates selected are expected to report to the college with the required documents at the institute.

Instruction for Submission of Admission cum Merit Form before the Admission Committee

Once the Merit list is out, students need to check for their names on the list.
Merit listed candidates may get admission to the satisfaction of the Admission Committee after counseling. The candidate will have to deposit fee on the same day otherwise his/her right of admission will be forfeited.
Produce all the required documents in original before the Admission Committee.
Downloaded copy of the Admission / Merit form along with directory, Undertaking for Curbing the Menace of Ragging (Anti-ragging), and Police Verification Certificate duly signed by the candidate and parents.
Attach Original Transfer Certificate (TC) and Character Certificate (CC) from the institution last attended.
Photocopies of the qualifying examination, High School (Date of birth) Certificate. Photocopies of other documents likely to earn weightage points

DBS PG College Dehradun Facilities

Library: All the PG Departments have their independent libraries, the main library with a capacity of about 43,000 books and journals, and spacious reading rooms with the subscription of a number of newspapers, magazines, and broadband connectivity.
IGNOU Study Centre: DBS College boasts of its initiative in the field of professional and regular education in distance mode with its on-campus IGNOU Study Centre.
Co-Curricular Activities: Apart from academics, DBS (PG) College is a home for a number of Co-Curricular activities. Participating in co-curricular activities within the college is an advantage to students because of the participating and volunteering certificates they get through these activities. These certificates leave a good impression on the C.V. of the students. Two of the most important Co-Curricular activities of DBS college are as follows:
NSS: In DBS (PG) College there are three vibrant units of NSS under the control of three Programme Officers. Two units belong to girls and one unit to boys. Students of undergraduate classes are registered as volunteers for these units. Only those students who put in 120 hours of social work every year under routine activities for two years and attend at least one special camp are eligible for an NSS certificate.
NCC: NCC Training is imparted to both Boys and Girls students at DBS (PG) college. Both units work under the State Directorate of Uttarakhand with its controlling units 29 UK BN and 11 UK BN.
Rovers and Rangers: The Rovers and Rangers units are also active in the college for the training of students in different personality development traits. The units work under Bharat Scout and Guides organization, India.
Sports: The College has an independent department of Physical Education, headed by an Associate Professor to look after sports and games. Basketball court, Volleyball court, Table-Tennis hall, playground for Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, and Hockey are available along with other basic facilities for sports.
