Regional Ayurveda Institute for Fundamental Research - [RAIFR]

National Research Institute of Basic Ayurvedic Sciences, Pune is an autonomous organization under the aegis of Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family welfare, Govt. of India. Formerly known as Jawaharlal Nehru Ayurvedic Medicinal Plants Garden and Herbarium, its main objective is to identify DNA finger prints and Bio markers of selected medicinal plants and standardization of ayurvedic drugs. Being a leading research centre of the central council for research in Ayurvedic Sciences, it offers Post graduate and doctoral studies (Ph.D.) to aspirants having master’s degree and is GATE/CSIR/NET/PET or other equivalent entrance tests qualified, in the subject of Biochemistry and Botany. It is a recognized Research Centre with University of Pune.

• Laboratories and Museum:  the institute has setup a quality control laboratory for drug standardization, a herbarium, a reference museum and a molecular biology lab which work on fundamental research on the principles of Ayurveda.
• Publishes books and research articles:  The organization is in constant practice of publishing research articles in reputed research journal and has till now published 10 books entitled “ Data Base on medicinal plants used in Ayurveda Volume I to X” .
• Provides training: It also provides training on various aspects of propagation and cultivation of Medicinal plants.
• Demonstration of Plants: Various medicinal plants are demonstrated in a garden to the researchers, students and other interested visitor.
