Sri Devaraj Urs University is a deemed to be University in Karnataka under section of 3 UGC Act, 1956. Sri Devaraj URS Medical College in Tamaka, Kolar is a constituent college of the University. It was established under the aegis of Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust. The university conducts medical courses at Undergraduate (MBBS) and Post- Graduate (MD, MS) and Post Graduate Diploma levels

The College is planning to start doctoral courses in Biochemistry, Microbiology and fellowship programme in Head and Neck Onco-Surgery.
The college is associated with R.L. Jalappa Hospital & Research Centre
The college is under the patronage of Sri Devaraj URS Educational Trust for Backward Classes, Kolar.
For conducting seminars, workshops, symposia and CME, there is an acoustically built 400 seater air conditioned Auditorium
