About Tata Institute of Social Sciences - [TISS]

Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Guwahati, widely known as TISS, Guwahati, is a Deemed to be University, established in the year 2010 under the joint efforts by Government of Assam and Ministry of Department of North-East Region, Govt. of India. The foundation stone for the TISS Guwahati Campus was laid by the then Chief Minister of Assam, His Excellency Mr. Tarun Gogoi and Mr. Krishna Kumar the former Chairperson of the Institute in the presence of Mr. Ratan Tata.

Sprawling in the land space of 24.5 acres, the university offers some value-added courses at Diploma, UG, PG, and Ph.D. levels.

Eligibility Criteria

For B.A. Program, a candidate has to be 10+2 passed in any stream from a recognized board.
For M.A. Program, candidates need to provide a UG degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university.
The university also invites applications for the research level courses from the aspirants holding relevant PG Degree. Admission to the same will be done on the basis of university-based entrance test followed by the personal interview and group discussion round.

TISS Guwahati Facilities

Library: The university consists of a central library offering a huge collection of books from a diverse range of course studies from approx each academic genre.
IT Services: The university campus is equipped with a computer center with a facility of 65 computers and is available for students and research scholars to offer e-resources for course study.
Accommodation facilities: The campus has hostels as accommodation facilities both for boy and girl students carrying a number to 2 boys hostel and 1 girl hostel.
Medical Facilities: The campus has a facility of Doctor on service at fixed timings. One can avail this facility in the case of need.
Student’s Counseling Center: TISS has a provision of the Counseling Center for the students’ according to their need. Students can have a consultation facility provided by the university in the available schedule.
