About Uttarakhand Sanskrit University

Uttarakhand Sanskrit University was established on the 21st of April 2005 by the Government of Uttarakhand in an attempt to propagate Sanskrit and Oriental language and connect them with modern context. Uttarakhand Sanskrit University currently has more 44 colleges affiliated to it with the goal of conservation and promotion oriental education.

The main campus of the university is located on the Delhi National Highway, 15 kilometers from Haridwar City in the Bahadrabad Area.

B.Ed	Duration: 2 Years Eligibility: Uttar Madhyama or Higher Secondary with Sanskrit as one of the main subjects and 40% aggregate marks. Candidates who have completed graduation in any stream are also applicable Selection Criteria: Entrance Test - HNBGU
Bachelor of Journalism (B.J)	Duration: 1 Year Eligibility: Uttar Madhyama or Higher Secondary with 40% aggregate marks. Candidates who have completed graduation in any stream are also applicable
B.Lib.ScGranthalaya Vigyan – Library School	Duration: 1 Year Eligibility: Uttar Madhyama (i.e North Madhyama equivalent to 10+2) or Higher Secondary with Sanskrit as one of the main subjects and 40% aggregate marks. Candidates who have completed graduation in any stream are also applicable
MA	Duration: 2 Years Eligibility: Graduation in related discipline with an aggregate of 40% marks from a recognized university Specializations: Yoga, Philosophy, History, Education, Hindi and BhashaVigyan – Hindi and Language School, Ved (Shukla Yajurveda) – Knowledge, Jyotish – Astrology
Ph.D.	Duration: 2 Years- 5 Years Eligibility: Must have obtained a master's or equivalent postgraduate degree in a basic or allied subject from any university, recognized university or private university established by law and recognized by UGC with a minimum of 55 percent marks. Such postgraduate degrees obtained from foreign universities will also be considered as equivalent degrees in India. Specialization: Sanskrit Sahitya Selection Criteria: Entrance Test - PET
M.Phil	Duration: 2 Years Eligibility: Must have obtained a master's or equivalent postgraduate degree in a basic or allied subject from any university, recognized university or private university established by law and recognized by UGC with a minimum of 55 percent marks. Such postgraduate degrees obtained from foreign universities will also be considered as equivalent degrees in India. Uttarakhand Sanskrit University Admission

All candidates are admitted to USVV for all courses on the basis of merit of the respective qualifying examinations.

Candidates applying for PhD will have to appear for the PET (PhD Entrance Test) upon which selection will be made.

Students who have passed the JRC-NET or NET (National Eligibility Test) or SET Uttarakhand (State Eligibility Test) examinations of University Grants Commission or students who hold an M.Phil degree in the concerned subject are exempted from writing the PET and will be selected based on the Personal Interview that will follow.n

Students will be given admission based on the marks scored in their corresponding qualifying examinations. There will be a final personal interview that will determine final selection.

How to Apply?

To apply for any course (Certificate, Diploma, UG, PG, M.Phil, PhD), students have to download and fill the application form from the official website.
All students have to fill in the application form with precision and care, as forms with incorrect data will be immediately rejected.

USVV does not offer campus placements but offers guidance to students to choose a career path that will work in harmony with their state of mind and interests. Uttarakhand Sanskrit University Scholarships

Uttarakhand Scholarship – This scholarship is availed to those students who come from a domicile background, such as OBC/ SC/ ST communities. The family income should not exceed INR 2.5 Lakhs SC and S.T. communities and INR 1 Lakh for O.B.C. communities per annum.
Post Graduate Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holders – All students pursuing their Ph.D. or MPhil in the Uttarakhand Sanskrit University are eligible for this scholarship. Candidates should have passed J.R.F. or N.E.T. and have secured top Ranks at the university level.
Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child – This scholarship is open for all girls who are single children in their families. The applicant must have enrolled in a full-time P.G. course in a recognized university.

Library: The Central Library has been operated since the inception of the University. The library has a large collection of books related to Vedas, Vedang, Sanskrit Literature, Sanskrit Grammar, Philosophy, Indian Culture, Education, Oriental Learning, Poetry, Philology, Hindi and English. The library also has a system of manuscripts, research journals and theses that cater to the various academic and research needs.
Hostel: The university provides in campus hostel facilities for boys and girls. The hostels are very well maintained with all the basic amenities.
Laboratories: USVV has numerous laboratories that are built and maintained to focus on different subjects. The University has a computer laboratory, language laboratories and science laboratories. The computer lab is equipped with the latest technology and computers with access to high speed broadband connection. The language labs are all established with an environment that improves and cultivates all aspects of learning.
Sports: The college has an indoor and outdoor stadium with gymnastics, yoga facilities and athletics for students who are interested in sports.
Classrooms: All classrooms are equipped with modern teaching techniques. Teachers use smartboards, OHP, LCD and various public addressing systems to enhance learning experience.

Ques. Does USVV offer scholarships and reservations?

Ans. Uttarakhand Sanskrit University offers reservations to candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC communities. The university also gives a 5 percent relaxation in the total aggregate marks required for admissions. Research Scholarships will be awarded by the University to those candidates who have passed NET or JRF examinations conducted by the UGC as per the UGC guidelines. Researchers also can apply for scholarships from the National Institute of Sanskrit, Delhi.

Ques. What is the dress code of USVV?

Ans. USVV has a very strict dress code policy. Students are not allowed to wear any tight, revealing or casual (University inappropriate) clothing. All students are expected to wear kurtas or churidars and formal shirts and pants in case of boys on campus. Admittance into college will be denied for those students who show up without meeting the dress code requirements or an ID card.
