University College of Engineering was established in 1937 and it is affiliated to University of kerala.The college was established motive of becoming a model institution for technical education in the State. The college has also served as a model in several matters including the fee structure. Ever since its inception, the college has maintained a high level of academic performance and in the last three years, the students of the college have secured at least one top position each in the B.Tech examinations.

The Training and Placement Unit collaborates with the Centre for Adult, Continuing Education and Extension to conduct Career guidance sessions. This has resulted in a good number of students getting placements well in advance of completion of their course
