Government Arts College Coimbatore Admission

Admission to Govt. Arts College is merit-based. The students can apply both online as well as offline. For admission in Diploma and UG courses, applicants must have passed 10+2 in relevant subjects from any recognized Board such as CBSE/ ICSE/ State Board.

Selection in these courses is based on the merit of the qualifying examination and as per the availability of seats.
Admission in MA, M. Com, and M.Sc. requires a bachelor’s degree in relevant subjects from any recognized University/ Institution.
The selection criterion for these PG courses is direct and based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
Admission to M.Sc (Computer Applications) and MCA is entrance-based. The entrance exam accepted for the same is TANCET.

How to apply?

Application form for UG and PG admission can be obtained from the college office during working hours
The cost of the UG application is INR 49 and the cost of the PG application is INR 60. SC/ ST students can get the application free of cost by producing a photocopy of the community certificate
Only one application form need to be issued with the option to various courses should be followed very strictly
Photocopies of the following should be enclosed with the filled-in application:
- Qualifying Examination Mark Sheet/Provisional Mark-sheet should be attested by Head Master of the School
- Community Certificate (wherever applicable)
- Certificate of proof when admission is sought under Differently Abled/ Sports Quota/ NCC/ Ex-Servicemen etc.
- Transfer Certificate
- Eligibility certificate for students from other States / Universities
Original Certificates are to be produced at the time of admission only. However, if a candidate fails to produce the relevant certificates in original at the time of Counselling for admission, the admission shall be canceled.
Merit list is declared by the college based on the marks obtained by candidates in their previous institution

Library: There are more than 40,000 books in the college General Library. It has all general books, books for competitive examinations, dailies, weeklies, and monthlies, newspapers and magazines, and employment news. This digital library functions with internet facility, through which students have the facility of using and downloading online books, journals, and research articles
Students’ Co-operative Store: Government Arts College Students’ Co-operative Store functions in the college campus, where students can buy notebooks, stationery items and other materials for a reasonable price
Transport Concession: Students from the outskirts of Coimbatore city get benefited by getting concession in Tamil Nadu Government Bus Transport and Central Government Railway Transport through college as per Government rules
Information Center: There is a well-equipped meeting hall to conduct seminars, workshops, and discussions. It has an audio and video facility with accessories to record speeches and conversations. It is equipped with computers and other facilities like internet, CD Library, Programming, and Learning Package Program for students’ use
Hostels: The UG Hostel is functioning in a sprawling campus of 1 hectare and 393 sq. ft. with 60 rooms for students to stay and mess. At present, the hostel accommodates 278 students

Ans. The college offers 22 UG and 21 PG courses.

Ans. As globalization has reached the education sector, the college has geared up to grab new opportunities, and thus the Tamil Nadu State Higher Education Council has entered into collaborations with universities in U.K. These collaborations enable the college to offer students programs in the U.K. Universities. Many postgraduate students have completed the post-graduation program under the foreign study program.

Ans. The placement cell of the college has been functioning actively over the years. The cell has been able to place 150 students in renowned companies for both part-time and full-time jobs.
